Information design projects shortlisted for award

Two Steer projects have been shortlisted for an International Institute for Information Design Award.

By Steer

Two Steer Davies Gleave projects – Dundee Travel Info website and the Marconi Express Branding and Wayfinding project – has been shortlisted for an International Institute for Information Design (IIID) Award.

The new Dundee Travel Info website was launched in 2010 on behalf of Dundee City Council and includes an improved multi-modal journey planner, a mobile app, a customisable homepage and personalised information, allowing users to quickly access information for frequently used bus stops, rail stations and address data. The new site has attracted many new and repeat visitors, and on one day of particularly poor weather the website received 7,000 visitors.

The ‘Marconi Express’ is a high-frequency shuttle service connecting Bologna Central rail station with Bologna Marconi Airport. Steer Davies Gleave developed a branding and a wayfinding system for the service based exclusively on pictograms, with particular care put into creating a clear and logical structure for the information making navigation to/from and within the station simple and intuitive.

About IIID

IIID is recognised as the world leader in information design development and this year it is holding its inaugural IIID Awards competition to acknowledge the best in what information design has to offer.

The winners will be announced next week at the 2011 IDA Congress in Taiwan and all shortlisted submissions will be displayed at the 2011 Taipei World Design Expo.
