Reading Metropolitan gets outline planning consent for development of over 600 homes

Steer are delighted that Hermes Investment Management recently received outline planning consent to construct in excess of 600 homes.

Steer are delighted that Hermes Investment Management recently received outline planning consent to construct in excess of 600 homes and major new commercial and community space on the former Royal Mail depot adjacent to Reading station.

Steer are providing transport planning and traffic engineering advice to the scheme and prepared the transport documents to support the planning application. Taking account of the highly sustainable location, we were able to justify very low car parking provision, accompanied by cycle parking provision in excess of the Council’s standards.

The scheme also opens up new pedestrian and cycle routes which will link surrounding areas to Reading town centre and provides financial contributions towards enhancing the subway underneath the station.
