In a joint bid, Steer, together with Amberside Advisors (a Steer company), secured an appointment for three lots within the framework.

We are delighted to have been appointed by the NHS to their multidisciplinary framework for ‘Consultancy and Advisory Services for Health’. This framework signals a pivotal step towards a sustainable and decarbonised future for NHS Estates.

In a joint bid, Steer together with Amberside Advisors (a Steer company), secured an appointment for three lots within the framework that will allow us to provide services across finance and procurement, property, and social value, sustainability and carbon neutrality.

Neil Rutledge, Director at Amberside Advisors, highlighted how This appointment opens a new route for Steer and Amberside Advisors to be involved in exciting work to decarbonise the NHS estate”.  He also noted that, “At both Trust and Integrated Care Board level, we are seeing increased focus on how Green Plans can actually deliver Net Zero commitments.

Further to this, Steer’s UK Managing Director, Stephen Wainwright, added “We are delighted to expand our work for the NHS, helping to improve the experience for staff, patients and visitors while also tackling their challenging decarbonisation commitments in a cost-effective manner.”

Together, we bring multidisciplinary expertise encompassing financing, planning, design, business case development and behaviour change management, with recent work including:

  • improving the patient experience and wayfinding for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust,
  • supporting their masterplan and redevelopment in Brighton, and
  • delivering decarbonisation projects with Guy & St Thomas Trust, to name a few.

Recognising the significance of the tender, we have incorporated substantial social value commitments into the bid, reflecting a dedication to creating positive societal impacts. Initiatives include exploring opportunities to reduce the reliance on car travel for patients and visitors, addressing existing inequalities, and offering educational events and resources.

Steer and Amberside Advisors, look forward to many successful projects through this framework, fostering a collaborative journey towards a more sustainable and resilient healthcare sector across the UK.
