Free in-person workshop in London
The London Borough Knowledge Exchange is a new in-person event series designed to support officers from across London in tackling critical urban challenges through shared insight, real-world examples, and open, peer-led discussion.
Our first session, Safer Streets, explores how thinking around road danger is evolving from reactive responses to proactive, people-first approaches rooted in design, data and collaboration.
What to expect
Spaces are limited to just 30 for this free, half-day workshop, which features best practice projects from London boroughs and technical experts. Additionally, you have the opportunity to participate in our roundtable discussions, where you’ll hear from:
- Using data sources to enhance Vision Zero. Richard Owen from Agilysis will explore how leading authorities are moving beyond historic casualty data to use more diverse, proactive datasets, supporting better prioritisation and evidence-based safety interventions.
- Pedestrianisation of Camden High Street. Sophie Edmundson from Camden Council will share how the borough approached the pedestrianisation of Camden High Street, what it means for wider road danger reduction, and what others can learn from the process.
- Safety impacts of bus priority measures. Alfonso Campollo from Steer (in collaboration with TfL) will present insights from a recent study assessing different types of bus lanes and priority infrastructure, and discuss the implications of the findings for street safety and design.
Interactive roundtable sessions - 'Have your say!'
After the showcases, attendees can choose one of two themed discussions:
Bus stop bypasses roundtable
Are bus stop bypasses essential for active travel, or do they risk creating new accessibility barriers? This discussion will explore how to design for safety and inclusion.
Speed management roundtable
How can we make 20mph zones more effective, and how does speed management support better walking, cycling and wheeling? A practical session focused on street design, enforcement, and network planning.
Roundtable input will help shape post-event articles, giving attendees a chance to contribute directly to wider industry insights.
